An attempt was made to evacuate people after a passenger plane caught fire in South Korea, three people were injured.

Seoul, South Korea Reuters An Airbus plane of South Korean airline Air Busan caught fire at Gimhae International Airport in the south of the country on Tuesday as he was preparing to fly to Hong Kong, fire officials said.

Fire officials in Busan said all 169 passengers and seven crew members were evacuated, three of whom suffered minor injuries.

The fire service was alerted to the blaze, which broke out inside the plane, just before 10:30 p.m. South Korea's Yonhap news agency said the fire was in the rear of the plane.

Evacuation slides were deployed on either side of the single-aisle plane, footage broadcast by local broadcaster YTN showed emergency workers dealing with smoke and flames billowing from the jet.

Subsequent footage from Yonhap News showed burn holes along the length of the roof of the fuselage.

Budget carrier Air Busan is part of South Korea's Asiana Airlines, which was acquired by Korean Air in December.

Aircraft manufacturer Airbus said it was aware of reports of the incident and was in contact with Air Busan.

Air Busan and Asiana did not immediately reply to requests for comment. Korean Air inquired about Air Busan.

According to the Aviation Safety Network, a reputable database run by the Flight Safety Foundation, the plane is a 17-year-old Airbus A321ceo model with tail number HL7763.
